VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: L’Oasis Floral Design | NYC

One of my favorite New York City Wedding Vendors to work with is Laurence from L’Oasis Floral Design. She is amazing to work with and oh so talented. I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate on several occasions and the pieces she creates are simply jaw dropping. The flowers look almost edible they’re so delicious! I’m not even kidding! :) I photographed these stunning arrangements as part of the L’Oasis Exclusive Line. Couples you must work with her – you will not be disappointed!

ANNIVERSARY SHOOT: Jeff + Nancy | Meatpacking District + High Line

What an honor and a privilege to be able to capture Jeff and Nancy’s love story. These two met at Stanford and were married two years ago in San Francisco, but they call and consider NYC home. I can’t think of a better way to spend your anniversary and connect again as a couple!

{Personal} A month ago… and some good stuff.

A month ago my feet were in the snow in Norway and later today they will be in the sand in California. It’s so crazy how time flies and things change. The last three weeks I’ve been playing catch up and prepping for my two week trip to Santa Barbara, Salt Lake City and Austin.

I’m a lot nervous and a little scared, but more than anything I feel completely blessed. First up is United – it’s a photography conference all about connecting and growing together while serving others. How amazing is that loves – seriously! SERVING OTHERS!! It’s what I base my business off of and what I try to do every day. While I’ve been to conferences before, I’ve never been to one filled with 300+ photographers. Can you say OVERWHELMING… Ahhhh! I’m trying not to freak myself out, but this group is some of the best in the industry. Say a little prayer for me that I’m not hiding out in my hotel room the entire time.

After United I head to Salt Lake City for a few days for meetings and photo shoots with some of my favorite peeps. I haven’t been there in well over a year so I’m not expecting much sleep. Well, I don’t think I’ll sleep for two weeks, but you know. It is what it is and I’m doing what I love! There’s going to be so much gorgeous-ness going on – I can’t wait!!

Then I head to Austin for some more meetings and a shoot for Hearth Magazine. Maybe, I’ll sleep in Austin, just maybe. :) It’s going to be a whirlwind trip filled with lots of craziness, but it will be so worth it. Thank goodness for modern technology – I’ll get to talk and see to my babes every day.

There are also some great partnerships and features coming up in the next month that I can’t wait to share with you! And I promise more on Norway and my trip out West. For now I leave you with another peek into one of the most magical things I’ve ever seen – The Northern Lights. xo

{Personal} Dreaming of Norway – Oslo, Bergen and Tromsø

I love to travel and can’t get enough of it. When I was in the military I moved so many times I can’t even count – from Texas to Maryland back to Texas to Guam and then Germany and finally Utah. It was an amazing ride, but since then I haven’t traveled as much as I would like.

Well that’s all about to change – today I leave for NORWAY!!!!! I’m jumping up and down crazy excited, screaming from the rooftops! Ya’ll it’s one week in a magical winter wonderland aka a REAL snow globe. It’s a dream come true and even better yet I get to photograph Marte + Eirik’s engagement session in beautiful Bergen!

I like to call this image – ‘The light at the end of the tunnel’, taken in Cold Spring, NY // December 2013

If you want to follow along my Scandinavian journey be sure to check out my Instagram feed – @AlexisJuneWed. And here’s to traveling a lot MORE this year – so far Santa Barbara in February, Austin and Salt Lake City in March and Las Vegas in September. Who’s with me? And if you’re not located in NYC, but looking for a wedding photographer – I have my passport and will most certainly travel! Italy, Ireland or Bali anyone?

Spring Bridal Inspiration / Brooklyn Botanic Gardens – Crown Heights, Brooklyn / New York City + Destination Wedding Photographer

These images take me back to sunnier skies and cherry blossoms. Spring in New York City is magical and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is an amazing backdrop for a bridal inspiration shoot. Simple details, a gorgeous dress and beautiful light – this is all you need lovies, this is all you need!

How do you envision your bridal bouquet? Would you go with something as simple as a single protea?

I hope these images warm you up a bit and have you thinking about beauty that is just around the corner.

Stephanie + Ryan Surprise Proposal / Museum of Art and Design – Columbus Circle / New York City + Destination Wedding Photographer

I had the absolute honor of capturing Ryan propose to Stephanie. The surprised look on her face, the laughter, the tears and this moment when she got down on one knee with Ryan. It was straight out of a fairytale – emotional, beautiful and full of joy. And I love, love, loved it all.

How He Asked {you can see more here}: Stephanie and Ryan had been away the week of July 4th and during their trip, Stephanie complained how they didn’t do enough cultural activities in NYC and that she wanted to start going to more museums. Ryan knew this was the perfect opportunity to mention a Jewelry Exhibit he knew was going on at the Museum of Art and Design on Columbus Circle. Being that Stephanie is in the Jewelry Industry, he knew she would agree to go. Ryan told Stephanie that there were two exhibits he wanted her to see. He explained how his friends raved about the second exhibit, “the Touch Exhibit,” where you are blindfolded and you touch sculptures then lift your mask to reveal what you were feeling. When she exited the elevator, walking slowly holding his hand she kept insisting “what is going on” as there was no tour guide and she could tell she was in an empty room. Stephanie removed her mask and Ryan was down on one knee surrounded by red and white roses, champagne and his own work of art for her. It was a collage he had a family friend of Stephanie’s commissioned to make including all places they had traveled to and experienced in their two years together. It said “Will You Be My Traveling Partner?”

Congratulations Ryan + Stephanie and thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this moment in your lives.

{Personal} Birthday Wishes – Dreams Do Come True

Yesterday was my birthday and I would have never thought this would be my life. I get to live in NYC, photograph amazing stories, travel around the world and be with the people who love me most. This is all a girl could ever ask for and more.

If I’ve learned anything over the last few years, it would be never ever give up, always push through when you think you can’t and follow your heart because dreams do come true. Here’s to another beautiful year full of learning, love, hope and joy. I’m one blessed woman.

{Featured} on Un-Jersey Bride – Fall / Winter Elegant – Music Inspired Styled Shoot – New York City + Destination Wedding Photographer

When I first met Ashley from Dulce Dreams Events I knew we would hit it off. After all, we found each other through Instagram – hello social media! She’s smart, well-spoken and one crazy talented woman. She came to me with the idea to collaborate on a styled shoot in a piano warehouse. Amazing – right? Rows and rows of pianos, a backdrop with sheets of classical music and a gorgeous bride and groom. Who could say no say that – it was to die for loves! I couldn’t more honored to share this shoot with you, it was featured on Un-Jersey Bride.

What a whirlwind these last few months have been. I’ve lived in NYC for almost a year now and if you would have asked me if I thought this is where I would be last year, I would have said ‘no way’. There are so many great things happening and I’m beyond grateful for all of the opportunities.

My photography has been featured a few places this year including Elizabeth Anne Designs. It was an honor to collaborate with such amazing vendors, you can see more from the shoot here.

Happy Love Day + Handmade Valentine Swap.

Happy love day! I hope you’re spending it with the favorite people in your life. Last year I made cards for my preschooler to hand out as well as chocolate-dipped spoons for my teenager to giveaway. But, this year was different and I wanted to make my own to send so when I saw everyone posting about The Stationery Place’s Handmade Valentine swap I was was all in! I wanted to include two my favorite things – gold + twine plus a little extra so they could spread the joy. Here’s what was sent to Singapore, Iowa, Illinois + Australia.

I’m saving the ones I got to open today and couldn’t be more excited. It’s such a great idea and who doesn’t love to get beautiful cards. Did you make Valentine’s to send to spread the love? I’d love to see what you created.
