I’m on the road again – this time to Vermont to photograph Emily and Brendan’s wedding. It’s going to be a beautiful backyard affair set in the Northeast Kingdom, next to a brook and full of love. If you want to see the gorgeousness, I’ll be posting a few sneak peeks on Facebook and Instagram. You’re not going to want to miss this one! And because you can’t have a post without a picture – here’s a look (post coming soon) into our travels to Maine a couple of weeks ago. Happy Friday loves – let’s make it a good one!
I’ve had the privilege of traveling to a few AMAZING places this year. Santa Barbara being one of them and I can’t help thinking about the moment I took this image and how I was feeling. But, not about how the sand felt between my toes or the fresh ocean breeze blowing in my face, but how I REALLY felt.
I moved to NYC not even two years ago and it has been one wild and crazy ride. I still have those ‘OMG I LIVE IN NEW YORK FREAKING CITY’ moments. Yes, STILL. I don’t know if those will ever stop or end, but I do know that although things get to be overwhelming or discouraging – I am in charge of my own destiny. I am the only one responsible for my life and loves I am far from perfect. Sometimes it’s not pretty, but it is what it is. You live and learn and move forward.
Okay now I’m rambling…
I was talking to one of friends about staying inspired and working on more personal projects. I’ve recently started to shoot film again which I’m incredibly passionate about. There’s just something about connecting with the person in front of the camera without the added distraction. I’ll post on that later, but the point of Pep Talk Tuesday is to share a little inspiration. A little something, something I stumbled upon today that I just HAD TO SHARE!
If you know or have seen my posts on Instagram or Facebook you know I’m a quote lover. During the day when I’m at home editing I listen to random things on YouTube – I came across this one from Lara Jade. She’s amazing, right? Here a few points from her talk, all very true, all great things to remember and something we can not forget, not even for one day.
– LIVE WITH GRATITUDE
– SELF WORTH
– LOOK DEEPER
– LET GO OF FEAR
– DON’T COMPETE
– BE OPEN TO COLLABORATION
It’s not even four minutes long – go, listen, watch and be INSPIRED.
A month ago my feet were in the snow in Norway and later today they will be in the sand in California. It’s so crazy how time flies and things change. The last three weeks I’ve been playing catch up and prepping for my two week trip to Santa Barbara, Salt Lake City and Austin.
I’m a lot nervous and a little scared, but more than anything I feel completely blessed. First up is United – it’s a photography conference all about connecting and growing together while serving others. How amazing is that loves – seriously! SERVING OTHERS!! It’s what I base my business off of and what I try to do every day. While I’ve been to conferences before, I’ve never been to one filled with 300+ photographers. Can you say OVERWHELMING… Ahhhh! I’m trying not to freak myself out, but this group is some of the best in the industry. Say a little prayer for me that I’m not hiding out in my hotel room the entire time.
After United I head to Salt Lake City for a few days for meetings and photo shoots with some of my favorite peeps. I haven’t been there in well over a year so I’m not expecting much sleep. Well, I don’t think I’ll sleep for two weeks, but you know. It is what it is and I’m doing what I love! There’s going to be so much gorgeous-ness going on – I can’t wait!!
Then I head to Austin for some more meetings and a shoot for Hearth Magazine. Maybe, I’ll sleep in Austin, just maybe. It’s going to be a whirlwind trip filled with lots of craziness, but it will be so worth it. Thank goodness for modern technology – I’ll get to talk and see to my babes every day.
There are also some great partnerships and features coming up in the next month that I can’t wait to share with you! And I promise more on Norway and my trip out West. For now I leave you with another peek into one of the most magical things I’ve ever seen – The Northern Lights. xo
These images take me back to sunnier skies and cherry blossoms. Spring in New York City is magical and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is an amazing backdrop for a bridal inspiration shoot. Simple details, a gorgeous dress and beautiful light – this is all you need lovies, this is all you need!
How do you envision your bridal bouquet? Would you go with something as simple as a single protea
I hope these images warm you up a bit and have you thinking about beauty that is just around the corner.
This shoot was featured on Wedding Chicks and you can see more of it here.
When I first met Ashley from Dulce Dreams Events I knew we would hit it off. After all, we found each other through Instagram – hello social media! She’s smart, well-spoken and one crazy talented woman. She came to me with the idea to collaborate on a styled shoot in a piano warehouse. Amazing – right? Rows and rows of pianos, a backdrop with sheets of classical music and a gorgeous bride and groom. Who could say no say that – it was to die for loves! I couldn’t more honored to share this shoot with you, it was featured on Un-Jersey Bride.
What a whirlwind these last few months have been. I’ve lived in NYC for almost a year now and if you would have asked me if I thought this is where I would be last year, I would have said ‘no way’. There are so many great things happening and I’m beyond grateful for all of the opportunities.
My photography has been featured a few places this year including Elizabeth Anne Designs. It was an honor to collaborate with such amazing vendors, you can see more from the shoot here.

“You have to be brave with your life so that others can be brave with theirs.” – source unknown.
This quote has stuck with me as I started my business and dared to pursue my dream of moving to NYC. I look back at when I wrote this post about finding my voice. While I did find a place where I can be myself and share my point of view, I didn’t exactly follow through and post an image a day. Life got in the way and my priorities changed. I do believe sometimes you learn more from your failures than you do from your successes.
Last year, I did found my voice, learned to take chances and to say yes. I wasn’t raised to take risks or move away from the norm. Picking up my family and moving across the country was not only one of the scariest thing I have ever done, but the biggest risk I have ever taken. The ‘what ifs’ start and can be consuming, but I always kept this quote in the back of my head and want to share it with you.
I want to make a difference in this world and give back. I want to contribute and share the love that I’ve felt. I would always joke that I want to live in the land of rainbows and unicorns. Where life is great and everyone is happy and healthy. I know that this isn’t always reality, but it helped with my attitude and outlook. I want to continue 2013 with this quote and have made it my mantra, my word.
I truly believe that if you are brave with your life others can be brave with theirs. You never know if could make a difference in someone’s life – I know that it has in mine.
Classical music in Grand Central Station // New York City // December 2012
Woah it’s been forever since I’ve blogged, updated, shared my feelings… I’ve missed my little space on the web. Twenty thirteen brings a new year, a new city (hello New York) and a whole new outlook on life and business.
Last year was amazing – my word from 2012 was ‘VOICE’. And believe, me I’ve found my voice. Oh here comes the tears… Where do I start? Achieving more that I ever thought I would – my stationery and photography was featured in so many great places. Diving head first into every opportunity and every chance I got to be creative was exhausting, life changing, liberating… I could go on and on. I have loved every second and couldn’t be more excited with the new opportunities this year will bring. I am truly grateful for such an amazing support system – things would be very different without these talented ladies!
I have a lot on my mind and I’m taking a new approach to everything I love. Please join me on this journey. I promise to be a little better and write a little more.
I’ve posted about Pinterest before and I swear it sucks me in every time! There is so much inspiration and I love spending a few me minutes getting lost in the loveliness. One of my favorite finds are the quotes – oh, the emotion! If you’re not yet pinning, email me and I’ll send you an invite.
I’m open to what ever happens next on this crazy journey. Happy Friday – I hope your weekend is beautiful!
